To use the ability to read off the vinylsize, we recommend serial interface.

First we need to check that the settings in the plotter is correct, to do this we need to check
the menu in the plotter.

1. Close the front cover and press the Menu-key.
2. Use the arrows to navigate through the system, navigate to the AXIS item and click enter. Change the value to 90deg and click enter.
3. Then navigate to the SUBMENU item and click enter.
4. Navigate to the VS-CMND item and click enter, change the setting to EFFECT and click enter.
5. Navigate to the FS-CMND item and click enter, change the setting to EFFECT and click enter.
6. Navigate to the COMMAND item and click enter, change the setting to 2 or auto and click enter.
7. Navigate to the I/O item and click enter. Now check that these parameters match:

Now choose END in the menus to exit the menu system.

So, now the plotter is correctly setup.

To Setup SignCut-X2 properly, do the following:

1. Make sure you don't have a Roland Printer-driver for the cutter installed, as they are known to block the communication.
2. Start SignCut-X2.
3. Open the Cutter dialogue, click on the Cutter-button in the top-panel.
4. Select "Roland DG" as Manufacturer.
5. Select "Roland CM-300", "Roland CM-400" or "Roland CM-500" in the Cutter list.
6. Choose the appropriate device you are using, For serial ports it is typically COM-1 to COM-255, and for parallel ports it is usually LPT1. On Mac OS X, only serial port is supported, and the serial port name typically begins with "/dev.cu/" and then the name of the port.
7. Check that Baud=9600, Parity=NON, Databits=8, Stopbits=1, Handshake=Hardware (RTS/CTS), Blade Offset = 0.00 (set in plotter), Rotate=90 deg
