The Roland CM-12/24 models support either Serial or Parallel communication.
To use the ability to read off the vinylsize, we recommend serial interface.
First we need to check that the settings in the plotter is correct, to do this we need to check
the dip-switches that are located on the right side of the plotter.
Set the switches as below:
SW-1: OFF
SW-2: OFF
SW-3: NOT USED
SW-4: OFF
SW-5: OFF
SW-6: ON
SW-7: Depends on knife bladeoffset, but typical OFF (0,25)
SW-8: Material weight: OFF=Light ON=Heavy
SW-9: NOT USED
SW-10: OFF
So, now the plotter is correctly setup.
To Setup SignCut-X2 properly, do the following:
1. Make sure you don't have a Roland Printer-driver for the cutter installed, as they are known to block the communication.
2. Start SignCut-X2.
3. Open the Cutter dialogue, click on the Cutter-button in the top-panel.
4. Select "Roland DG" as Manufacturer.
5. Select "Roland CM-12" or "Roland CM-24" in the Cutter list.
6. Choose the appropriate device you are using, For serial ports it is typically COM-1 to COM-255, and for parallel ports it is usually LPT1. On Mac OS X, only serial port is supported, and the serial port name typically begins with "/dev.cu/" and then the name of the port.
7. Check that Baud=9600, Parity=NON, Databits=8, Stopbits=1, Handshake=Hardware (RTS/CTS), Blade Offset = 0.00 (set in plotter), Rotate=90 deg
Click Ok
